The original artwork consists of a variety of elements that are present in some of Picasso's sketches. The original work is heavy pencil on lightweight brown shipping paper. A Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the artist will be included with the sale. Fine Art prints are also available in sizes 10 x 10, 16 x 16, 24 x 24 and 34 x 34. Pablo Picasso is often quoted as having said: “Good artists copy, great artists steal.” We cannot know for sure, yet Picasso, if indeed he ever made such a quote, likely meant something like this: A good artist will see another artists style and then try and emulate that style as closely as they can. On the other hand, a great artist will select elements from another artists work and incorporate it into their own unique mix of influences from the original artist. So a good artist simply copies another person’s art. But a great artist selectively takes (steals) elements from multiple sources and then creatively combines their influences to create something that is uniquely their own. Without a doubt, Picasso's influence heavily affected "Elements". Yet in the end the similarities and the differences begin to blend and blur into a uniquely different version that reflect exactly how this particular artist envisioned the subject.

My artwork, I believe, is just part of an endless learning process that moves me one more step toward successfully rendering my own unique and personal vision of the world. I have been on this planet for quite awhile; some seventy-odd years, in fact. I was born and raised in the Dallas, Texas area and I live in Mesquite, Texas, a large suburb of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro-plex. I hold two degrees from a New York University; one of them a Masters degree. I previously also completed graduate work in Ethics and Conflict Resolution at Southern Methodist University. By profession, for over forty years I was at one time or another, an accountant, a CFO, and a financial analyst prior to my early retirement in 2009. Most of those years were spent in the petroleum and banking industries. Some would likely call me a late bloomer because both of my degrees didn't come along until I was well into my forties and fifties. I have been interested in photography all my life, but I didn't really discover the art world and become an avid participant until about ten or twelve years ago. That said, my interests are rather wide-ranging. I write and have published poetry, articles, essays and novels. I am an amateur radio operator, I play several musical instruments, my favorite being the piano, and finally, my wife and I own two gorgeous convertibles that are more than ready for participation in all the local car shows. My artwork and my photography is held in a number of private collections throughout the world. I have experimented with abstract sculpture and painting and multi-media work, but find that I generally prefer drawing. My favorite subject is studies of the human face; with an appreciative focus on all things feminine. I'm quite content to share my art with those who appreciate my work for whatever it might mean to them. I can't think of any awards or prizes I've won for my artwork, but I have to say I'm not all that interested in competition, but I am more interested in producing art that means something to me and suits my tastes and goals. In short, I feel I am a man who has lived long enough and has experienced enough of the world to truly appreciate the incredible beauty of our world and what it offers us. In particular, I also appreciate being given the opportunity to record the human spirit as I personally see it and to thereby create my own personal impressions of some of the interesting people who inhabit it.
