About The Artwork

Among the vivid colors that stand out in a first contact with the work and the dark side of death also present in it. All my cultural baggage - russian, estonian and portuguese - is symbolically represented on canvas. In my projects there is always the intention to represent the insatiable and boundless society, a fetish present in almost everything that we surround, addictions and chaos of the day-to-day. As in my previous works, I created this composition according to the principle of the circle, "taking apart" my subconscious mandala’s. In recent years, we've seen some important political figures measuring power, showing how much one country can exceed another. I grew up in a time when the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union was quite active. That's probably why the subject of war and political strategies always called my attention. This drawing was written on a deep reflection about the values of our modern society and how narcissistic personality type has permeated our entire life, in all social media. Social networks often serve as a mirror that shows "Who is the prettiest, coolest, most serious, richest in the world”. .... and so on …. On the other hand, these same networks, the Internet and consumerism, are a kind of pacifier to soothe the narcissistic baby... And when politicians measure their power with bombs, missiles, "will we save refugees or not", all that comes to mind is how far we can go in our inner emptiness. This drawing reflects my thoughts about this whole peculiar world of narcissistic society, where most people look in their own mirrors, sucking on their favourite nipple and habitually watching the parade of political games.

In 2003 Vera moved to Portugal where she's been living since then.
