About The Artwork

The Fleetwood Diner is a landmark in Ann Arbor, MI. I wanted to explore the idea of a quiet night scene with a lone streetlamp light. It was such a busy hotspot during the day, here it is quietly waiting for morning to start breakfast. This drawing is an early example of my developing how I came to use charcoal on paper to weave marks across the surface and conjure up a story.
