About The Artwork

I created this artwork because I wanted to do another photo-realism piece using Copic markers, like my artwork "Brew". I chose to draw a Dr. Marten boot because they are an iconic shoe, and I love the way they look with the reflections on the shiny leather. Also, because I had owned a pair of black Docs when I was 15. When I was 18 I lost one of them at a party in Melbourne, so this artwork is, in part, a homage to my lost boot. The paper dimensions are 76 x 56cm. There is a large area of white paper around the drawing. It is hard to see in the photos, but there is a light grey area of shadow under the boot which extends to my signature. The paper is not pure white, it's cream coloured and lightly textured. I would like to do more realism pieces, but it might be a long time until I do another one. Reference photo by me of my partner's boot.

I'm an Australian artist who is currently travelling abroad. I've been working as a professional artist since 2016. I have studied fine arts for many years prior to that. While in the past I worked with a wide range of mediums, I currently specialise in Copic marker drawings. In 2019 I was a finalist in the annual Copic marker award, and in 2018 I won the Bluethumb Art prize drawing category for my artwork "Smoke".
