Tiamat Print

This work is done by me in my free time in a period of a few months. It is not planned in advance and I didn't have any plan during it's making. It is made spontaneous but with very much attention to details. Drawing grows spontaneously and its idea is realized during the process of drawing. In the end, I myself discover what I had drawn. The subjects are pure expression of my interest for natural and organic shapes. Also for strange and unusual creatures. I think that it can be correlated with growth and decay of all living matter, that is why I called it Tiamat, like the goddess that brings life but also death. I didn't want too much correlation with human world, so I just put some parts that resemble human because I wanted to catch pure beauty of flesh and deformation without much corellation to known creatures including human. It is meant to show beauty in the spontaneity of growing life but also in its inevitable decaying. I find in it some reminiscence with low- brow art and it has for me some sort of autobiographical meaning, catching my emotions during the process of work. I choose this medium because it is not able to make mistakes with it. Everything that I had drawn I looked at like something that had to be there. Because of that, I put much focus and attention during the drawing. The process is sometimes meditative but also a bit exhausting. I hoped that the viewer will find some otherworldy opening in this drawing. Something that will make him look at details and forms and feel something new and expanding. It is made with Derwent charcoal on Hahnemuehle fine paper. The dimensions of a drawing are 100x70 cm. The hanging hardwires can be included in, with the drawing.
