Two-tailed Guardian is a two-tailed wolf that lives between the spirit world and planet earth. This piece was created for Tang's art show, Distant Tales in Deer Lake Galley which features mythical creatures and animals that are local to her community. The wolf is inspired by the tale of a two tailed kitsune, which translates to fox in Japanese. The kistune can shape shift and fool people by playing tricks on them, and can have up to 9 tails. In many cultures, wolves can be seen as an animal with negative connotations/omens and be hunted. This mythical wolf however, is different. He is the guardian of the forest and supports with balancing our ecosystem.

Fiona Tang is an internationally recognized Artist from Vancouver, BC, Canada. She is most well known for her mural sized animal drawings that appear to 'leap out' of the drawing. Her hope is to minimize the distance between humans and animals by having her viewers interact with her animals emotionally and physically and be overwhelmed with a sense of vulnerability and wonder by the sheer size.
