This piece is part of a series of four paintings, called "Untold Golden Spells". Each of the four pieces in this series reflect the feelings I had when a friendship and stage of my life ended - a mixture of nostalgia, sadness and fond memories. The model is a stranger from a public domain photograph- I didn’t know anything about the person, and yet I felt an emotional connection to them. Similarly, when a friendship is lost, that friend becomes a stranger once more, but a deep bond remains. The piece is painting with watercolor on cotton - a medium which fades over time. The title comes from a poem about friendship written by a victorian poet named Anna. Although written long ago, and almost forgotten, her words matched my own feelings about my friend.
