About The Artwork

Did you ever wonder if shiny and glitzy were just a means to an end? This is in part the inspiration for this piece within the “Kitsch” series. Watching carefully designed adds and contemplating flash as a means for luring or distracting, the gears were set in motion for this and others in the series "Kitsch". For quite a while my signature style has been painting on multiple planes, which from a straight view has a usual painting. However; when the viewer moves around the work it transforms to a fully three dimensional work. I have always been excited about what happens between two dimensional and three dimensional spaces. I have always been interested in what happens in the peripheral and I hope viewers enjoy this unique space as well.

I was born in Wild Rose Wisconsin. Growing up in a rural area I spent hours exploring and building forts, which I feel had an impact on my creative development. Later, I went to two art schools, where I obtained a BFA and MFA. My work usually crosses boundaries in disciplines. I love parts of sculpture, painting, and film and I usually end up fusing the three together. Often, there's a good deal of plexi, mold making, custom cut masking, painting, and film aspects going on all at once. As far as film goes I lean more to being influenced by Bruce Naumen. Whereas, as far as form goes I was influenced by Tim Hawkinson.
