About The Artwork

The work was inspired by the delicate spring flowers of the wild fruit trees on the slopes of the Vitosha mountain, near Sofia. Nature and natural colours, combined with delicate symbolism organized based on both random and not so random abstract natural imprints, create the sensation that I am communicating with the creator

Miglena Petrova-Tsyatkova graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, majoring in Textile, with Prof. Vasil Ovcharov and Prof. Anna Boyadzhieva, with a PhD degree.   During her Master's degree, she became an assistant to Prof. Vasil Ovcharov at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" - Varna / 2001-2004 /, majoring in Textiles, where she teaches Composition, Textile History, Weaving techniques, etc. . After enrolling for a full-time doctorate, Miglena Tsvyatkova began her teaching assistant in the studio of Prof. Anna Boyadzhieva at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, where she took part in the students' education and supported the successful finalization of their annual and diploma projects.     The artistic practices that are the subject of interest and achievement for the author are manipulated fabrics and reservations, dyeing with natural materials and free embroidery. The author focuses on building exquisite compositions, based on abstract plant and mineral prints, in combination with painted embroidery. Her works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions in Bulgaria, France, Finland, Poland and others.  Since 2013, Dr. Miglena Petrova-Tsyatkova has opened her own studio in the village of Bistritsa, where she practices contemporary textile crafts and art.
