About The Artwork

Russia and Ukraine are among the world’s top five wheat producing countries. Since the beginning of the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine, food prices have risen sharply. Today, millions of people from many countries may be on the brink of starvation: this can happen if the Russian-Ukrainian war continues. It is necessary to use any opportunity to stop this war. Goal: to attract even more attention to the war in Ukraine and more donors from all over the world to support Ukraine. INFORMATION ABOUT THE PAINTING: The beginning of the picture in Mariupol. The canvases became dirty from the explosions. This is how the Mariupolka primer of earth, soot, ash, and rust appeared. Then it was transported with refugees. Work completed in Lviv. Artist: Vita Ukrainka Title of the painting: Black Ear Support: canvas Date: 2022 Dimensions (centimeters) Height: 60 Width: 40 Depth: 3 Inscriptions: The Black Ear is sealed to the backside of another painting, which has a hiding with the flag of Ukraine, painted on canvas of 1963, and an inscription in Ukrainian on its inner frame. The inscription says, “Нехай цвинтарі стануть для рашистів містами” (which means ”Let cemeteries become cities for the ruscists”). Primer and medium: As a primer, the Ukrainian earth, a mixture of soot, ash, rusty metal and tree resin was used, the artist’s blood being added at the ear root. The oil was mixed with several types of varnish of our own production. The blood was added for a reason. Today, many fields in Ukraine are still mined. Farmers are blown up by mines every day. Therefore, our wheat is grown on the earth soaked with Ukrainian blood. Additional details: The picture warns of the aggravating problem of world hunger due to the war in Ukraine and expresses hatred of the Ukrainian people to the ruscists for their committing atrocities in our country and also for causing a great number of people on the planet to starve. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support!
