About The Artwork
A special painting to me, this is a portrait of my Dad, which I painted a few years after he passed away. Using an old photo from back in the 80s as reference, and I think he looks pretty cool to be honest! Without much detail in the photo, capturing likeness was found in simplicity. And I went abstract with the background, a loose interpretation of the grass and fence etc. I love the contrasts and the colours. And I found his shadow became especially important so as he was grounded standing there, not just floating around in abstraction.
