ADAM AND EVE SERIES These nudes and nude couples are essentially my version of a very traditional subject, Adam and Eve (sometimes called The Expulsion) has been a very popular theme for artists since the middleages. It probably reached its peak during the Renaissance. I’ve always found it a socially acceptable way—or a good excuse—to paint naked people—often with mildly erotic overtones. When I was living in Melbourne, one of my exhibitions, Adam and Eve and Other Nudes did quite well in sales as well as press publicity. Anyway, here are my latest interpretations of Adam and Eve. All the paintings of Adam and Eve in this series are painted in acrylic paint on boards of the same size: 56 cms wide x 88 cms high by 3mm thick (22 ins x 34.5 ins x .11 ins). This means that they are ideal to “mix and match” as a diptyches (two panels) or a triptyches (three panels). Two or three paintings bought together attract a generous discount. A diptych or triptych hanging side by side of Adam & Eve or Adam & Adam, or Eve & Eve (or whatever configuration you choose) will make a real impact in a room. I have several more ideas in my head for exploring this theme. Watch this space. For more information please email me.

France
Bonjour. I'm Ray Johnstone, and I live in a small medieval village in south west France. I spend most of my time painting, writing and teaching art, but I still find time to play petanque most afternoons (the game they play with iron balls all over France). I firmly believe that everyone - yes, everyone - can learn to paint and draw, and I teach children and adults, as well as individuals, families and groups. (For more information about art holidays, simply cut and paste the following: ’Ray Johnstone France’). If you’d like a quote on any painting you might like to think about commissioning me to do, please email me the details. (Please keep in mind that I can paint almost any subject FROM A PHOTOGRAPH). I’ll get back to you right away.
