About The Artwork
A visit to Gallipoli Peninsular,Turkey was a life changing experience. It was 6 fascinating days with a group. When travelling home and later on ,the ideas began to flow. I wanted to paint how I was effected by this tract of land filled with blood from many men and countries. I started to see the Australian Army hats in my own brush strokes,and gun barrels in the bushes..so it began. Ambushed by the past is exactly how I felt. This work has been exhibited in The Hague(Netherlands) Cannakale (Turkey) and Villers- Brettoneux (France), for Anzac Commemorations in 2010/11/12 It was a finalist in the Fishers Ghost Art Prize Cambelltown NSW

I sold my first painting in oils at 13 and it was something I always did. Life took me to Canberra in 1990 and a sole parent and carer. I began to paint items for markets and grew a small business of souvenir products. A visit to Gallipoli had a profound effect and I subsequently won the inaugural Gallipoli Art Prize. I have been a finalist most years since and also many other majoy art prizes. I developed abilities in all mediums and subjects which led to becoming self employed.
