About The Artwork

Abstract Expressionism 721 36 x 36 x 1.5 inches (90 x 90 x 4 cm) Acrylic on Stretched 3D Canvas. The circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, the self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement, God is a circle whose centre is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere. Hermes Trismegistus. Lines of different transparency on heavily textured colours, and the way colours change as they are seen at different angles and distances. Pure colour is evocative of emotion and memories of one's own experiences and thought. They evoke a childhood memory of a coloured boiled sweet, and penny gum, or flower petal, could almost taste it. The thick, creamy texture that shines and cisterns in its purity is all that is needed. Influences include Rothko and Hodgkin's but in a different style and exaggerated and simplified using large pallet of impasto paint in multiple and or single strokes of pure colour.
