I'm Evgenia Ocell and I'm a Ukrainian painter based in Barcelona. My paintings are inspired by the natural world around me. I am fascinated by the ephemeral beauty of living things: flowers, fruit, vegetables, plants, birds and other animals, including people. Through their various shapes and colours, I seek to transmit the grace, energy, and light of each living being. I use water-soluble oil paint in order to achieve a watercolour effect, as I love both techniques. When I was a child, I used to paint with watercolours, and then my curiosity led me to discover oil paint, the medium of the great masters. I combine light and dense textures in order to play with definition and subtlety, creating atmospheres around my subjects.
