About The Artwork

Beach Patrol - Seagull 10/02/2021 41cm (W) x 51cm (H) x 1.5cm (D) By HSIN LIN Signed at front. Painted with palette knife and brushes. Ready to hang - D rings and wire attached at the back. Side panel painted: Blue Artist Acrylic & Lace (Mix Media) on Gesso primed canvas. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. Affirmation: Stand still and hold your heart close to mine, I will keep you safe. Seagull symbolism means that there is always opportunity in everything, even in the most unlikely time / places. It Is also a reminding to us that everything has a purpose. As many of you may know I don’t paint birds very often, but when I do it’s normally a self-projection. After months of lock down in Victoria, I felt the ocean was calling me so I took a day trip to Phillip Island. During the lunch I set down on a quiet beach and spotted this beautiful friend standing beside me. The weather was nice and the sky was blue. This little fella accompanied me for quite some time and I really enjoyed the serenity by the sea with my new little friend. I captured the Seagull with my eyes and camera, somehow, I saw determination and unwavering courage in its eyes, it’s comforting in a way that I cannot describe. I then worked in my studio for this piece after the trip, sending days capturing this beautiful bird with my paint brushes and canvas, and finally have it completed. Sharing this beautiful moment with you, hope you enjoy the latest piece of my animal series -THE VOICE OF NATURE SERIES - Artwork inspired by nature in Phillip Island, Victoria, Summer 2021.-HSIN LIN Exhibition - 16 APR - 3 May VAS MARITIME EXHIBITION at The Victorian Artists Society. HSIN LIN, Award-winning Artist based in Melbourne, Australia. In Hsin Lin’s ongoing, signature contemporary floral series that feature native and common flowers we know, flowers represent life and each different type of flower has a unique symbolic meaning. Lin is inspired by her close observation of the natural world. Through a process of careful looking Lin is able to capture an incredible amount of intricate detail. To create the larger-scale work, Lin normally spends 6-12 months developing the intricate composition. The fine details such as the tiny petals have been developed through ten or more layers of paint. Lin describes that ‘although still-life is considered a traditional genre, each object in the paintings stands for a different meaning and has its own story. Flowers represent us as humans, vases represent the body carrying our soul, protecting us like a shield. The weaving basket stands for connections—the bonds between families, friends and all the people around us. Even if you are apart, everyone is still being linked together as a whole and we are stronger together.’ Lin’s paintings, a series of flowers in full bloom, remind us that we are alive and that life is vibrant, blossoming and full of potential. [BIOGRAPHY] Hsin Lin is a Melbourne-based award-winning artist who specializes in contemporary floral paintings.
