Maria Antonieta Bonifaz aka “Tony Wolff” is a Mexican visual artist and writer born in Mexico City based in France. After traveling all around her native country and although art has always been her passion, the pressure to find a more practical path led her to finish a B.S in Communication, where she acquired basic studies for certain techniques such as photography and writing. But nevertheless she still didn’t know how to connect all those knowledge to her work in a proper independent way. With the aim of clearing her pad, she decides to come to Europe five years ago. London UK was her home since 2012 and the place where she began to improve her technique and confirmed what she really wanted to show in her creations. Currently, with a clearer vision of herself and her work, she has established her workshop in the city of Marseille, in the South of France. Several of her paintings and photography work has been exhibited in different art spaces such as galleries and cultural centres around (POC Galerie, Atelier Paradox, among others) and she has been part of different festivals and collectives where other latin american artists have been recognized for their work and career. Tony’s storylines and backgrounds are constructed by elements of nature in motion creating very rare, precious and intense scenes...Nostalgic and melancholic scenes showing a simple vision of a tender reality. Emotions and feelings stand out as the main character of her visual stories. Her work attend to represent the simple beauty associated with all those “human” moments (a kiss, an encounter a goodbye) that get lost in a superficial world. Her pieces are a mirror of a poetic and naturalistic vision. A vision that she looks to share helped by watercolours, pencil, ink and photography or any media she feels comfortable to learn and work wit. Always influenced by all the things she admired: Latin-American poetry, Japanese haiku poetry, art nouveau, surrealism, femininity, anime, comics, children's books, cinema, the sea, the sky, the sunsets, the people (the smile and the not smile ones) her family, her friends, her husband and many, many more, Tony’s work keeps developing gentle, constant, joyful and firm….just like herself.
