About The Artwork

In 2010 México fulfilled its first two centuries as a nation. Osvaldo, US-MX border citizen from Acuña, shares his perspective on what Mexico represents. Bicentenario-Centenario is an ode to the contemporary heroes, to what México is, does, and lives. The artist is focusing in the new heroes of México. He is displaying what happened in México after 200 years of being a sovereing nation. He answers to the question, ¨what now?¨ He is dedicating this honor to what deserves to be displayed from the Mexican culture. A painting made right on the border, where the Rio Grande divides, unites, says welcome, and says good bye. The piece displays an architectural skyline from the most modern buildings throughout the nation by 2010. Several personalities such as: Guillermo Arriaga, 2010 Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete, 2010 champion runner Ana Gabriela Guevara, Gonzalez Iñarritu, Rafa Marquez soccer player champion in Europe. Alejandro Fernandez one of the first Mexicans to offer a concert in Madrid, Spain. The piece also depicts traces of what México has become including flora, fauna, and Mexican icons such as David Alfaro Siqueiros's prominent arm holding a tequila shot. There is a special homage to the unique Valle de Cuatrociénegas. Caribean, Gulf and Pacific represent the beauty of the nation's beaches and the Magestic Cerro de la Silla is at the center of the piece as a witness of the Norteño culture. Years of work, years of studying, what Mexico means. And a painting can't be enough. This is only a piece of the puzzle. See and try to find more features. Enjoy it!
