Young indian woman observed at Fatehpur Sikri Uttar Pradesh India. She is holding down her anarkali dress from a sudden breeze after descending steps. The anarkali was a remarkable blue colour and the slightest movement or wind would animate it. I work in acrylic because it allows me to experiment, making changes quickly is paramount when wishing to explore my options. I apply the acrylic in successive washes to achieve a soft structure and then overpaint areas with a more opaque use of the pigments. I use artists hogs hair brushes to apply and manipulate the paint with large 4" brushes to spread the washes and break up the linework. The work is painted on a Superior Rolled Canvas board as I like the rigidity and fine surface, plus the longevity and resistance to damage has a proven record. Finally, the painting has a coat of Satin UV acrylic varnish, this not only protects the painting but has a unifying effect. The work only needs framing to to make it ready to hang. Narrow frames on large paintings have tendency to not sit well and have a habit of warping. See Indian paintings YouTube video https://youtu.be/i6BURMIF7ng

Born in Gloucester and living and working in Cheltenham UK. I like to work in acrylic because it allows me to experiment, making changes quickly is paramount when wishing to explore your options. I suspect like most figurative artists I find drawing and painting the human form wholly embedded with human behaviour. The desire to secure more than a representation of a persons movement, the spilling of light over contours or the various other physical facets is the reason we continue to make paintings. To recast emotions in texture, colour and pattern and to make it still, perhaps this is a measure of a successful painting. I have sold work around the world, to individuals and organisations and have produced award winning public art (usually with a colleague) for various institutions.
