An Aztec man smokes tobacco while exhaling swirls of fire that compose a sun standing behind him. Aztecs, like many other Native American cultures, used tobacco and ceremonial pipes in traditional rites now extinguished. The sun is a masculine principle associated with warriors, priests, and men.

United States
My work is inspired by Mexico and its culture. I love to tell and represent the myths, legends, and ways of life of pre-Hispanic people such as the Aztecs, and Maya. Also, today’s ethnic groups, alive and vibrant. I moved to the United States after marrying my Connecticut-born husband. I started showing my paintings at local galleries and getting mentions in newspapers. In Connecticut, I discovered a new life. Seascapes, sailboats, lighthouses, whales, and blue-eyed people started appearing in my work. Later I found Native Americans. They are stunning.
