The main character has a tense pale face: is he going to win and leave victorious or lose and leave shameful and penniless. The diffuse light from the back enhances the fictional aspect of the scene. The opposition between the pallid face of the player and the bright light of the board gives an idea of dependence end tension between the main character and its game. The two other characters lines are imprecise, they show us that it’s more a dream than the reality. The theme of the painting has been inspired by Stephan Zweig book “ Twenty-four hours in the life of a woman” that describes the passion for the game and its consequences. The painting style is dynamic and bold. It is made up of successive, vivid and colourful brushstrokes that makes the painting lively. My painting is made of thousands of multi-coloured touches of paint, sometimes imperceptible: these little impressionism touches make a realistic painting. Acrylic on stretched canvas on wooden frame, protected by an bright acrylic varnish, to enhance the colours. The sides of the painting are protected by a black ribbon: no need to frame.
