About The Artwork

In Canada we are a nation of immigrants built on the land of the indigenous people and their deep cultural and spiritual roots. Each group of immigrants has brought their own art, music, customs and ideas. All throughout history the richest advancements in human thinking and culture have happened when cultures come together. In this painting, which is illustrating the immigration process, clothing illustrates one aspect of culture. The design styles above the people represents the thought patterns and artistic sensibility of the culture. In the melting pot which is Canada consciousness blends and intertwines with the other cultures and the consciousness of the land and it's native people.

I am a retired high school art teacher and now a full time artist. I live in a very rural, wild and beautiful part of British Columbia, BC, Canada. I have been labelled an intuitive transformative artist which seems as good a label as any. I work primarily from inner vision; dreams, and meditation which evolve into ideas, stories and lots of thoughts on our human relationship to spirit and consciousness. The power of the mountains, the lake and the local animals appear in my work either as my neighbours or as symbols of our inner life. The birds that appear in my work often represents spirit; soaring, rising and seeing all from above. Most days I go to my studio to work, listening, noticing, accepting and following the threads that fascinate me and give me energy. I offer the artifacts of these journeys and hope that they might help connect others to their own threads and stories of their lives.
