Coochie Drama -From Coochie Series “Coochie” (italiano "Cocchina") is commonly used to call out something cute and cuddly or it can name the intimate part of a woman. These characters were born from a body of music I created. They arrived as portraits of companions and life experiences I’ve known. When searching the term on the internet I discovered “coochie” used overwhelmingly in the context of pornography. Using a play on words I then decided to reclaim the term as it ironically inspired me to express different sentiments and complexities of the feminine experience as I know it. This piece is the Dramatic part of a woman; the Tempest, the fury, the fiery, the fearless, the lunatic. I use gold metallic paints to describe the Queen (Drama Queen) aspect of her. The mask represents her duality at these times; like Lady Macbeth, desperate and strong. The cloud storm is over her casting down bloody tears to represent menstruation and pain. I use aggressive brushstokes to mimic her temperament.
