About The Artwork
I let the brush strokes to guide me through a painting when I'm feeling like I'm not sure what direction to go. Corner pub is a perfect example of this. I start moving my brush with thin layers of color and see what comes about. Then I leave some marks while brushing over others, resulting in two men drinking, talking, for what appears to have been over several hours. A day gone by. Corner Pub was inspired by Chicago's rich history and all the corner pubs.

Tracy Ostmann-Haschke (b.1969, Saint Louis, Missouri) is a Chicago based interdisciplinary artist with a focus in painting. Her work is most associated with representing and every-day genre, from exploring the mundane aspects of daily life to the extraordinary events that we can all identify with. Her work is displayed by private collectors in the United States and abroad as well as corporate and public spaces. She and her family currently reside and work on the West Side of Chicago in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
