About The Artwork

In order to blend the colours naturally and create movement, this piece was painted almost entirely in one sitting. Once dry, the piece was finished off with stokes of high-gloss varnish and a light dusting of sparkling powder in strategic places to give the impression of sunlight bouncing off the wave as it crashes when the light hits it or it is viewed from different angles. It is a bright, bold, happy piece that brings positive energy into the room.

Anna is an English artist with a background in dance and choreography and has been based in Spain since 2004. Anna first began playing with acrylics as a form of relaxation and was instantly drawn to how freeing it felt to play with the colours, forms and textures for the pure joy of experimenting and seeing where it would lead. As a dancer, the creative, choreographic process was always the part of the project that Anna enjoyed the most and she found that abstract painting gave her the same buzz, but with instant results. Unlike most dance perfomances or theatre pieces where the audience generally sees the polished result of a well-rehearsed project, an abstract painting is both the raw, creative process and final result in one and the artist is often as surprised by it as the audience. Anna loves nothing more than splashing the first strokes of paint onto a blank canvas and letting her brushes, sponges and spatulas improvise their way across the cotton stage until the curtain falls (to rapturous applause & a standing ovation of course!)
