About The Artwork

Have you ever wondered why plants in the garden are always so well arranged and neatly trimmed? And why lettuce cannot grow next to roses in the garden, but can only be grown on a farm? And who says the weed must be removed from the garden, even though the dandelion is as pretty as all the other flowers? I asked myself all these questions when I saw how chaotic public gardens can be in Stockholm. Even though they been planted with a plan in mind, it seems to me the gardeners only made sure the earth wasn’t too dry, and then let the plants grow freely, wildly and randomly. I saw kale be planted almost everywhere in the city, next to the sidewalk, in pots, parks, and even in a flower shop. Maybe kale has special meaning in Sweden, do they treat it as plant to admire but not to eat? Beauty without definition, planting without a plan, losing control is acceptable. They can do it, we can do it, and surely you can do it, too!

My art wants to put a smile on your face. All of my paintings tell a story, and every story has a little twist. You'll have to look closely: details matter to me. I was born and grew up in Taiwan, and moved to the Netherlands in 2014, where I am again living now after a 2-year stint in San Diego. You can check out my Instagram for a mix of work in progress and snapshots of my life with husband and cat.
