VIEW IN MY ROOM
Artist's Statement I've been working with overlaid stripes for several years now. Visually interesting things happen between the colors both side-by-side and texturally, one on top of the other. It is odd that so much abundance can proliferate, given the minimal confines of the approach. 3"M"s are what drive the painting to completion: "Method, Muse and Magic." Method: Physical pressure on solid surfaces, canvas stapled directly to floors and walls to maximize the force applied against the hard surface; Muse: Having the right inspiration which prepares one to deliver the positive energy necessary to produce the psychic value of the work; and Magic: the final flourish done in a zone outside of space and time; caution is thrown to the wind, an "all over" painting approach gains intensity as a chain-reaction occurs and the visual relationships multiply, giving birth to an ecstatic work of art whose "finishedness" is announced by the perfection of the product. ~Acrylic artist's coatings on hand-gessoed canvas, sealed with acrylic medium, finished with two coats of satin UV varnish. Signed and dated on the back. "Culture Clash" arrives rolled up in a tube. Dimensions and directions are given for mounting on a one-inch wide wooden stretcher bar.
