Under the circularity of Light, a violin shaped prehistoric Cycladic figurine, emerges from the symbol of infinity. The Stone of the Alchemist, is the seed of life and knowledge. The painting uses the symbolic colors of Porphyrae, gold and bronze, made by the artist herself from rare earths and minerals. She uses all-natural mediums on non chemical, durable, cotton paper.

Greece
Lydia Nikolaou is a visual artist, now based in Athens, Greece. She was born in Athens and finished her first degree in Interior Design and Graphic Arts, while she attended the theoretical courses and workshops of the School of Fine Arts. She also studied Pedagogics and Museum Education. Lydia certainly hasn’t stopped studying ancient and prehistoric art, at both a theoretical and an experimental level. Lydia’s concerns are mainly social and environmental, while her work is infused with an abounding inner experience, in an Alchemy of Earth and Light, with the aim of making perceptible the essence of the object rather than the sense of it Her research on ancient and prehistoric art has lead her into the creation of unique pieces of art using excellent colours and materials made and metamorphosized by the artist herself. Lydia Nikolaou uses rare earths and minerals for both her Paintings and Ceramic sculptures. She has participated in many group exhibitions and a few solo ones in the Cyclades Islands, where she used to live for about 20 years. The prehistoric Cycladic Civilisation is an eternal inspiration for her minimalistic contemporary work. The artist never ceases exploring Nature and creating new connections between the prehistoric civilisations, that have shaped the human consciousness, and contemporary culture.
