I was born in Mackay and before my first birthday moved to the Sunshine Coast where I spent my childhood and still base myself today. I have spent time living in the Nagano, Japan where I was able to enjoy the drastic contrast of such an amazing people and lifestyle as well as the harshness and beauty of their winters. I also spent time living on an island of the coast of Thailand where I learnt to dive and was introduced to a whole new environment above and below water. I enjoyed the simplicity of life and the happiness that comes with not owning much more than the what is needed. I also spent time living in the south island of New Zealand where I found so many similarities to that of my home but so much fresh new beauty that I had ever experienced. I enjoy the much more noticeable changes between seasons and the inspiration that comes with that. I am currently living in the Canadian Rockies and will soon experience the slow change of summer to winter. I find the wildlife here is everywhere and the size of these animals is as awe-inspiring as the size of the mountain ranges. I draw my inspiration from highly intricate natural environments and try to search for the simplicity within it.. Working with pastels give me a direct connection between what I envision and what makes it through to the paper. Working without a brush and primarily creating each piece with just fingers against paper helps me be a part of the work while I am lost in the creation of it. Its a very personal medium that I enjoy. To be able to leave my hidden fingerprints in each piece.
