About The Artwork

The ever-changing conditions of the Solway Coast of Scotland inspired this work. The Solway can vary from wild and windy to calm, mystical and/or ethereal. This painting depicts the latter. The soft colours of the foreshore are reflected towards the viewer's eye, while the mounds of seaweed and flotsam discarded on the shore, are washed by the incoming tide. The eye is then drawn towards the denim blue of the sea to the distant hills which are seen cloaked in wispy clouds. This abstracted, contemporary image lends itself well to pastel painting, the medium I have chosen to depict the ethereal, thought-prevoking image.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I live in the South West of Scotland with my husband Ian and have been a member of Dumfries & Galloway Fine Art Society for several years. The Society was founded in 1922 and celebraters its centenary in 2022. Early members include E.A. Hornel, Charles Oppenheimer and Jessie King. My art style is expressionistic and contemporary and I have worked in several mediums over the last few years but presently use Acrylics or soft pastels to render my seascape paintings. When using Acrylics, I use a range of paints, including Winsor & Newton, on Winsor & Newton thrice primed canvas mounted on a wooden frame. For Pastels I use either Winsor & Newton universal paper or Ingres paper.
