About The Artwork

This is one of my favorite watercolors in my private collection, now being offered for sale. I was inspired to paint this work from a small photo in a magazine of a beautiful woman in white lingerie. White subjects are challenging but can be magical if done well. I changed it around quite a bit and added a number of personal mementos, other black and white objects and then let the fantasy creep in around the edges. This added quite an element of mystery and lots of suggested hidden meanings. The small note paper that looks pinned to a wall contains my horoscope, and below that, a quote says, "What makes us is beyond grasping, way beyond knowing. We are given to love because it gives us some sense of the unknowable. Nothing else matters." from the movie, "Bram Stoker's Dracula."

My passion is painting. I draw and sketch daily but have a continuous fascination watching a face come alive as I paint, or paint believable reflections. I want my work to catch the viewer's eye and create an emotional connection. I was born in North Dakota and grew up in the Pacific Northwest, Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. I began drawing when I was about five years old. I can remember how fascinated I was with fingerpaints and how the colors blended as I smeared my hands through the greasy paints.
