This oil painting expresses a quiet yet powerful study of the human form at rest. A subtle dialogue within the form and medium creates expressive space between representation and abstraction. My figurative work owes a great debt to the major influences: Richard Diebenkorn, David Park, Francis Bacon, Frank Auberbach and my father, Harry Bennett. Harry was a noted painter and illustrator whose powerful design sense and forceful expression helped guide my path as a painter. This piece represents my interest in reworking, with oil paint, older monotypes on paper. This piece is unframed, ready to be mounted.
