About The Artwork

Acrylic painting on plywood with glossy varnish. "Fernweh" is a word I found for that feeling when you want to be somewhere else. I painted this in winter during the coronavirus pandemic so yeah, I wanted to be somewhere else. Like swimming in a lake in summer. This is an important piece for me because 1) it's the most detailed scene I've ever painted and I did it completely without realizing it and 2) this painting started my best art making flow ever. I always get really bad art blocks that can last for years and making this painting cured me like nothing ever before. It's important to me so I'm keeping the original and hope to make so many paintings in the future that it gets easier to give some of them up.

FYI, I also have smaller pieces for sale on Etsy. Link on my website. :) I was born in 1992 in the heart of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. I was an art line student in upper secondary school (in Lyseonpuiston lukio) and continued on to study graphic design in University of Lapland, where I got my bachelor's and master's degrees with a major in graphic design and minoring in art history. I am now trying out a new path with psychology education while I paint, draw and customize dolls in my free time. I suppose a lot of my art could be considered "vent art". I like to put my difficult and strong emotions into my art and use it to deal with difficult questions I'm grappling with. I also like to use art as another vessel for my interests in alternative fashion and whatever else I may find myself obsessed with. My favorite mediums to work with are colored pencils and acrylic paints.
