I was born and raised in Sumgayit, and all my childhood passed on the sea coast of our beloved Caspian. I remember this tart smell of the sea, a little salty, a little burning, which can not be confused with anything. Even being far abroad, the picture of the Caspian Sea never leaves me. Intiqam Agayev is a well-known contemporary Azerbaijani painter, a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. He is also known under the pseudonym "Asiman" which was his call sign during the Karabakh war in 1992-94. Most of Intiqam Agayev’s works reflect the landscapes of Absheron and Baku. On his works, the main emphasis on colors, on the color gamut, the brightness of colors, the saturation of tones. Using bright colors, the artist masterfully conveys the aura of the city, its history, and culture. In his works, the author shows the quiet, measured life of Icheri Sheher, where men play backgammon, women bake bread, and the children chase pigeons. All the paintings, saturated with national spirit and color. His works are held in the State Art Gallery and private collections.
