About The Artwork
With the "abstracts" I start by prepping the canvas with hand made crushed paper- a bit like paper machee- and paint it black. The irregular "by chance" lines are the bones of the painting. Basically I use what is already there to find a composition and subject hiding on the canvas. New lines are added with very solid paint materials and layers of paint give a nice texture, a pity the photograph cant reproduce the touchy feel The painting can hang horizontal, like on the main photograph- which I prefer- or vertical.
