I worried about posting this, but in the face of recent events have decided that is a valid contribution. It is essentially the Angel of Mons: a collective illusion over the First World War battlefield. Many soldiers reported observing a giant angel in the sky; here the wingless enemy floats over a moribund trooper. He is naked to show vulnerability and passive acceptance of fate. He has two different wounds: the physical and the psychological - the vaginal gape on his leg emits his soul; the target-shaped echo in his head proclaims a realisation that his demise s purely futile. I have the denizen of heaven made into a scattering cluster-bomb. He sends out a single minion, like a kheft, to collect the released anima. I worried that the genitals were too prominent, but the possible tumescence may simply be that his penis has flopped back over onto the groove of his him, though many erect at the point of decease, hence the phrase 'well hung,' which refers both to the executed and the indicator. Hocus Pocus is possibly a corruption of 'Hoc est corpus,' meaning here is the body, but it is uncertain. I brought this out of the closet because of the diabolical leanings of some global governments in their anti-LGBT+ legislature. The equation of sex and mortality is a simple one, a given. Here it is subverted for political ends, with a small p.

I have over 20,000 finished pieces now. Some are very small, but some are 8' across. I do representational work as well as abstract, but am concentrating on the latter at the moment. The work is big and bold, but I believe there has to be a symbolic framework within a painting for it to have any proper meaning. I often incorporate myths and legends. I truly have become the paradigm for 'a starving artist.' I have reduced my budget to a pound a day, and rely on food bank handouts to survive. I spend far too much on paint! Thank you to everyone who has bought my work. I hope the pictures bring you much joy. You indirectly support CAYAC. This is an organisation I set up to support young people in the county in a time of slashed funding and under-appreciation of the subject in schools. It stands for The Cambridgeshire Area Young Artist Competition. In a bid to rustle up some sales, I will be slashing prices over the next few weeks. I feel that I have to engage with this art-world thing as much as I can. I have just hit 60 and do not want to be like Vincent van Gogh, successful after my demise! ferrispictures.com thesaffronwaldengallery.com
