Three paintings united by the thought of the unknown, the unknowable. Mythical cats - a reference to the painting "Hunting for fish. Which are served to the table where water turns into wine" of 2019. Here, mythical cats contemplate the unknown - nuclear war. In connection with the war in Ukraine and the threats of the Russian Federation to use a "nuclear bomb", most people have acute questions. Is humanity capable of suicide? Will another nuclear bomb ever fall on the planet? Is the collective "society" able to cross this red line, which it crossed for the first time on August 6, 1945? These questions are frozen in the air, just like a hovering rocket, which is looked at by mythical creatures that reflect the absurdity of today with their surprised and somewhat ironic gaze.

My name is Yaroslava Volkova, and it so happened that drawing chose me, and not I chose drawing. I am a self-made artist, I have been drawing all my adult life, starting from A4 paper, ending with digital art and large canvases. My style belongs to expressionism and abstract, as I mostly live with emotions, and art for me is reflections of my feelings, the search for myself and the experience of the world around me. All my works had the function of liberation from heavy feelings, fear, anxiety, losses and acquisitions. For many years I did not want to show my boiling, stormy, an inner life filled with suffering from emotional swings. The unconscious will become conscious through the prism of colors. I have Bipolar Disorder and after several years of unsuccessful therapy, I finally got the right diagnosis and treatment. Drawing helped me cope with my illness and was part of my psychotherapy. And now I, and my work, will be able to see the world. I stopped being afraid to be myself, and you will see it in my works.
