About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by Toronto. The iconic red and white streetcar is the King 504. Only high quality artists acrylics have been used and the painting is varnished. The edges are painted black and the work is wired and ready to hang. " Surrounded by the city and living in the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District, Rita is inspired by tall glass and steel, concrete structures, and the way the light plays through the buildings. Streetlights and reflections provide the backdrop for the moodiness of her work. Every painting tells a story. "

"These new mixed media abstract paintings are optimistic. They are a journey into my imagination. As an introvert, my inner world is where I’m always most at home. With paint on canvas or paper, I escape into a place of beauty, joy, and magic. Each painting consists of layer upon layer of acrylic paint, sometimes with the addition of other media such as graphite, wax crayon, china marker, house paint, collage papers. These works are intuitive in nature: as I work I combine spontaneity with an intention to create a pleasing harmonious balance.” Toronto artist Rita Vindedzis has exhibited in a long list of solo, group shows and art fairs including Artist Project Toronto, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, One of a Kind Show, Toronto Art Expo, and Art Expo New York. Rita's work hangs in numerous private and corporate collections in Canada and the U.S. and her paintings have appeared in Canadian House and Home, Style at Home, and Chatelaine magazine and on numerous television programs.
