About The Artwork
Painting is inspired by abandoned willage, previously inhabited by Łemkos, carpathian highlanders. People was moved from their houses to different pleaces after IIWW. On this meadow previously orthodox church was located. On the right side of the painting, is embroidered silhouette of the woman, but only traditional patterns on her clothes. It symbolizes absence. Embroidery is real on painted surface.

Maria Strzelecka has graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, department of Graphics where currently she is undertaking her postgraduate studies. An actress, singer in a punk band, graphic designer and a mother of two. Professionally she is illustrating, designing posters, animating and creating special visual effects. She is owner of fashion brand Luka Bandita. She was awarded with honourable mention on International Animation Festival in Cracow for animation Bajka and won Public Award of Passion For Freedom London Festival 2012. Oil paintings are part of private collections around the world, mostly in England and Denmark. Lives and works in Poland
