About The Artwork

--This is one half of the Manifest Visions Diptych. I have offered it here individually to provide a wider array of print sizing. Please look in my Galley for the other half of the diptych as well as the combined original work.-- Subject: University of Cuenca (Central Campus), Ecuador Description: This work depicts two views of 1960’s modernist buildings at the central campus of the University of Cuenca. The campus is known for its well-tended grounds conserving plants native to Ecuador and the Andes. I was struck by the contrast between the stark angular architecture and the diverse lush foliage. This work is inspired by many architects practicing at the height of modernism and the way they described buildings as objects working in tandem with landscape to create new utopias - an idealistic vision manifested in built works. Process: Plein-air drawing, painted in studio.
