About The Artwork

I watched a documentary entitled Love, Marilyn and because of it, I fell in love with Marilyn Monroe. Hers is a tragic tale that has endured the years in large part because of her notoriety as a Hollywood icon. But there’s a side to her that this documentary revealed that made her more endearing to me as a person. She was an intellect, a businesswoman, a prolific writer, a thinker. She fervently consumed literature, and was reflective and introspective. What I found most heartbreaking about her story is the fact that she is remembered for none of this. In the worlds eyes, she was simply a beautiful face. That was both her making and her undoing; she knew she could give so much more. Sadly, she never got the chance.

I was born and raised in Nairobi Kenya, and have since lived in 3 other countries; Nigeria, England, and America. I am currently based in Los Angeles, CA. I am passionate about art that reflects modern day issues. I specifically am focused on conservation art; art that tells the story of animals that are endangered. My work has been used by the Nature Conservancy to raise awareness of the poaching crisis that Elephants face (click here to see more: http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/regions/africa/elegram-mosaic.xml ) and it is my goal to continue to raise awareness of the elephant poaching crisis. A copy of this artwork was also presented to the First Lady of Kenya to thank her for her conservation work.
