I painted this after I dropped a friend off at the airport last week and was sad and depressed because they left Hawaii and I didn’t think I would see them again but I loved this person even though this person obviously didn’t love me back. I was sad so I painted. This is what came out. Since I live on the slopes of a volcano in Hawaii my art often has lava flow and eruption elements. I let the universe choose the colors and brushes, this is what the universe chose. It is like the lava orange part is my heart which is bleeding and flowing and crying and trying to be loved and the blackness keeps coming and weaving and prying into my soul as I cling to love that is hopeless and lost forever. There is an iridescent glow to the interference blue acrylic paint that is also on the painting that creates a shimmer when seen in person, signifying hope for the future.
