About The Artwork
Just part of an evolving series of meditative, calming paintings and sculptures I've been working on over the years! These are meant to be a focal point for a meditation space, altar, or other places where you like to breathe deeply and relax. This painting is made by depositing several layers of fibrous unryu paper onto canvas, and then painting over the paper with a mixture of watercolors and acrylics until I've achieved an incredibly vibrant finish. I then sign the lower righthand edge, seal the painting with a UV-protecting sealant, and install hanging hardware in my preferred orientation - though the painting can be hung in any orientation.

As an artist and an engineer, I'm interested in experimenting with different materials and techniques in order to explore subjects like nature, astronomy, and geology; the impact of color and different color combinations on mood; and generally how to promote tranquility and calmness in the observer. I'm especially focused on making artwork that serves as a focal point for important, meaningful spaces in folks' day-to-day life, and have created many custom paintings for offices, meditation corners, and creative areas. I primarily work by building up colored layers of fibrous paper, and then depositing watercolor and acrylics - resulting in extremely textured and colorful paintings (that can also be lit up from behind!). My work is playful, vibrant, and meditative.
