‘Musalaha ‘ is the Arabic word for ‘reconciliation’. The painting was inspired by the organisation of the same name based in Jerusalem which seeks to build bridges between Palestinian Christians and Messianic Jews through their shared love of Yeshua/Isa. The current conflict in the Holy Land reverberates around the world and often provokes strong feelings and action on both sides of the cultural and religious divide. Yet there is hope and the existence, success and growth of organisations like 'Musalaha' proves that peace and reconciliation is possible.

Originally from the historical port of Whitby, North Yorkshire, Anthony Hodgson has, as a painter-poet, been placed in the tradition of William Blake. He spent most of his working life in teaching and social care before taking up art and currently lives in West Norwood, South London with his wife and two children. As an artist, he is known for his intricate Gothic and Celtic work in ink as well as large scale pastel Symbolist figurative works. He has recently been exhibited at Middlesbrough and Norwich Cathedral as well as several exhibitions with Commission4Mission in the City of London. He also writes and performs poetry and in 2016 had a collection of poetry published, entitled 'Poems and Songs from the Bridge'. Since 2015, Anthony has been delivering what he terms 'Living Art' where he uses spoken word, art, poetry and song to uncover the stories behind his work. Key themes include brokenness, healing and reconciliation.
