About The Artwork

Sir Stuart Hogg Market is one of the oldest market in Kolkata (Calcutta) - the locals call it New Market. The Victorian Gothic market complex, initially known as the Municipal Market was built in 1873 (opened in Jan 1, 1874) and was meant exclusively for the British population here featuring high end retailers. It was named after Sir Stuart Hogg in 1903 the then Chairman of Calcutta Corporation who provided big support to the project. I prefer painting with Coffee and Ink due to the rich tone and variation it can reflect. The painting is done on acid free Cold pressed 100% Fabriano Paper - 300 gsm and will be send tube-packed.
