Part of a series of glow paintings, where I attempt to show the source of light in a given picture plane. The usual approach to representational painting is to only show the effects of light, rather than the source of the light. There are many good reasons for this. Looking directly at a source of light can blind you, and to render it is to flirt with reduction, or kitsch. Nevertheless, I want try. Humans have been staring at fire for hundreds of thousands of years, and it is just a lot of fun to paint. What can I say? I like to have a good time.
