This fascinating and unusual painting of a nude woman, is characterized by its rough surface and rich textures. Fields and swaths of color, interrupted with dripped and poured paint, rich textured areas produced by beach sand and special mediums, yield a strong imagery that intrigues the viewer. I often explore the interplay of color and texture, while infusing it with my own perspective, to evoke an emotional response. The woman's body, seemingly unfinished leaves unanswered questions and takes the artwork in a completely new direction.

Ifigenia Christodoulidou is a contemporary multimedia artist from Greece. Her signature painting style is textural abstraction. In her painting practice she brings together a range of materials across the canvas, such as acrylic and oil paint, beach sand, paper, crackle paste, varnish, pigments, fabric and uses a combination of layering, distressing and blending techniques to build a multifaceted surface. By applying force while draging her tools across the canvas, she scrapes away the top layers of paint to reveal layers underneath, thus generating a fairly rough and deconstructed surface. Based on the acceptance of the transience and imperfection of things, she transforms her works into places where time condenses and where "imperfect, impermanent and incomplete beauty" is analyzed in its transience and brought back to new beauty, in an infinite cycle of creation and destruction. In her works, Time operates as an equal artist. Time, with its many layers, aged, rusted, and apparent worthlessness, creates the substance for the material that will be sculpted, eliminated or accented, so that the true image to be expressed is revealed. Many of her artworks are in private collections.
