About The Artwork
I am inspired by my environment. Our facial expressions is one of the most important non-verbal ways of communication. As an artist I am intrigued and fascinated by subtle body movement, gaze, and looks. My meduim works best for my techniques and approach because it gives me super freedom in executing my works. Talking about my subject matter, I paint people in close up so as to capture the facial features in order for my viewers to feel the expression and enjoy the physicality of the painting. And i also see this subject as the most interesting subject to paint.

Charles Osaro is a Nigerian contemporary portrait artist based in lagos Nigeria. I'm more intrested in human experiences, that’s why I'm fascinated with faces. Every face i paint tells it's own story.Our experiences breeds our inner dialougues which then shape us into our present realities. My paintings takes us through the lens of the past, present and future. The idea behind the fragmented nature of my work is for my viewers to interact with the peice, I like my viewers to finish each peice with their mind by enjoying the peice as a whole even with the fragmented part. Even if we don't have something in our life at the moment, we still have to feel complete. In one sentence, I will say my work brings healing.
