About The Artwork
I approach my animal subjects as portraits of individuals, instead of a painting of an animal. I try to bring my sense of whimsy to them. My goal is for the viewer to have a more emotional connection to the subject. In this large scale piece I was exploring the juxtaposition of the aggressive and masculine monkey with the lollipop. I wanted to crate interaction between the viewer and the subject
