Originally from Marseille, Hippolyte Reininger moved to Glasgow (Scotland) at the age of 16 to take the equivalent of the Baccalaureate in art and a year of "Portfolio course". He stayed there until he was 20 years old before returning to Marseille and joining the ESADMM (Ecole Supérieure d'Art et de Design Marseille Méditerranée). During his first year, in parallel with his classes, he started working for the painter Nushka as an assistant. At the end of the validation of his degree in 3rd grade, he aspired to become a commercial diver and continued to paint with Nuska, whom he truly considers his mentor today. Hippolyte Reininger's life choices are visible in his paintings. His technique comes from Nushka. The dark/black side certainly comes from his dives where visibility is often non-existent. Being weightless or in free fall in total darkness is his sweet sin.
